Rob Kapilow, commentator Gamelan Kusuma Laras I.M. Harjito, director
For hundreds of years, the entrancing, meditative sound of the gamelan—a kind of orchestra built around tuned percussion instruments like xylophones and gongs—filled the Islamic courts of Java. Rob Kapilow interprets these sounds for the Western ear with the help of New York’s own Gamelan Kusuma Laras.
Please note: The performance begins promptly at its scheduled time. There is no late seating.
This performance will be followed by a White Light Lounge.
